His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam held an UNSCHEDULED VISIT to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, 8th July morning. During the visit, His Majesty stresses a number of matters related to the governance of zakat affairs.

Among them, the use of digital technology to facilitate and expedite the zakat management process, prioritising the Zakat Asnaf Empowerment Programme, as well as complaints on delays zakat applicants receiving the disbursement. His Majesty in the titah first states that among the wisdom and purpose of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala in legislating zakat is for the benefit of the rich or capable to be able to distribute zakat to the less capable.​
